Free Period- Sanitary Napkin- Pilot Project

In December 2020 we started a pilot project distributing re-usable sanitary napkins to a selected group of girls from our Youth Board. Its aim was to collect data on the wearability and usability of the napkins and the protection they offer. The majority of girls who tested the napkins responded positively.

Since there is a high tax on feminine hygienic products and not every woman can afford it, some resort to old clothes that offer only little protection and/or even avoid going to school or work during the days of their menstruation. Absenteeism is a common problem. To counteract it, T.E.A. is now planning to distribute re-usable sanitary napkins at a large scale to enable women to gain access to affordable, re-usable menstrual hygienic products and feel comfortable and protected during the days of their period.

We would especially like to thank our partner Rags to Riches, an upcycling initiative in the United Arab Emirates. They are the creator and sponsor of Angel Wings, the sanitary napkins we used in this pilot project. We hope to continue our collaboration and use their sustainable products also in the future.

If you would like to support this project and help women gain access to hygienic products, please get in touch with us. We would be more than happy if people travelling from Dubai could help with the delivery.
